Parasite Biology
27th- 29th October 2017
Parasitic protists impose an immense burden on a significant portion of the global population.  New information gathered from genome sequencing efforts has renewed the scientific community’s interest in the biology of these organisms.  These recent studies have uncovered many surprising facts, which go beyond the boundaries of parasitology to even change our perception of evolution.  For an in-depth understanding of these organisms, this symposium proposes to bring together parasitologists who study protists, using diverse approaches.  The aim is to create an environment for understanding how protists sustain a parasitic lifestyle by uncovering both commonality and differences in the biology of various pathogens
